comframe software & test intelligence

comframe: charging expertise in your daily test workflow

Configure your test, let the software highlight deviations and examine the response with Professional Simulation. comframe is developed around charging, calibration and BMS applications. ISO 15118-4/-5 SECC TestLibs are already available.

Three tasks in comframe

Configure the device role and test conditions. Inspect messages and measured signals together to understand the response. Save the configuration, measurements and report so another engineer can review the same run. The application overview below shows the supported system families; the integration section explains the available interfaces.

Released in comframe

From SECC test selection to a documented result.

Use the ISO 15118-4 and ISO 15118-5 TestLibs for AC and DC EVSE communication in comframe. The released package, DUT features and EVCA configuration determine the applicable test cases.

ISO 15118-5 SECC test selection with PICS and PIXIT in comframe.
Configure supported DUT features and execution parameters alongside the test-case selection.

1. Describe the DUT

Use PICS to describe supported features and PIXIT to set the parameters required for execution.

2. Select the tests

Select the test cases that apply to the DUT and the released test-library package.

3. Run and evaluate

Execute the selected tests in comframe and inspect the automatic evaluation alongside the recorded communication.

4. Review the report

Use individual test-case reports to review the result and document the test evidence.

One software framework. Connected test applications.

Keep the workflow. Change the physical test system.

For engineers developing and validating EV charging, interoperability, EVSE calibration and battery management systems. Use a consistent workspace with your supported EVCA, Calimera or Battery Cell Simulator configuration.

Purpose-built software

Application knowledge built into the workflow.

comframe connects configuration, synchronised measurements, automated analysis, simulation and evidence around recurring test tasks. Use the implemented application functions and extend the workflow through released interfaces where your project requires it.

Projects & configurations

Keep the DUT, role, standards, behaviour, enabled functions and evidence requirement together.

Synchronised data

Correlate protocol, low-level states, traces, measurements and relevant electrical behaviour on one time base.

Visualization & reports

Turn complex measurements into task-focused views, highlighted deviations and attributable output.

Automation & interfaces

Reuse approved configurations in cycles, campaigns, production processes and external orchestration.

Arrange. Save. Share.

A clear workspace, ready for the next engineer.

Arrange views in a few clicks, resize them proportionally and save the layout. Share the view configuration with colleagues so they can load the same workspace directly.

Arrange views for the task

Keep the relevant messages, measurements, controls and results together. Move and resize the views as the test task changes.

Set up CAN and Ethernet directly

Configure the supported CAN and Ethernet hardware in the application workflow, with the settings needed to connect your test equipment.

Live and logging controls remain visible

The compact control stays at the bottom left of the workspace. See and change the live/logging mode without searching through nested menus.

Decide what to keep after the charging stop

After a charging stop, comframe asks whether to keep the measurement. If you do not respond within the timeout, it saves automatically. The file name includes context from the activity to help identify the recording.

comframe workspace: select the test configuration, compare messages and electrical measurements, and retain the result with the run. Available panels depend on the connected system and module.

Configure the DUT, interfaces and layout. Measure signals and communication. Analyse events in their test context. Test the response against defined requirements.

Generic core + domain logic

Shared core below. Domain meaning above.

The generic core keeps projects, synchronised data, visualization, reports, automation and interfaces consistent. Domain modules add the engineering context for CCS and NACS paths, CHAdeMO, GB/T, MCS and BMS. Supported systems include EVCA, Calimera and Battery Cell Simulator.

Five comframe domains share projects, synchronized data, visualization, automation and interfaces across EVCA, Calimera and Battery Cell Simulator

One platform. Three charging perspectives.

Measuring, analysing and testing across real-pair, EV and EVSE workflows.

Applicable EVCA configurations use the same software environment whether the engineer observes two real charging partners, tests an EV against an EVSE (electric vehicle supply equipment, or charging station) simulation or tests an EVSE against an EV simulation.

Test intelligence in one place

The essential comframe functions. Compactly explained.

Explore the comframe capabilities for analysis, simulation, reproduction, manipulation, automation and conformance testing. Availability depends on the selected product, protocol, release and licence.

Automated Standards Analysis

Relate measured values, timings, states and messages to normative expectations and highlight meaningful deviations.

Professional Simulation

Configure supported message content, timing, optional communication and exceptional behaviour without developing the complete test environment.

Manipulating Gateway

Modify selected communication between a real EV and real EVSE to test a live root-cause hypothesis.

Charge Playback

Charge Playback is available in CANoe. Replaying recorded EV behaviour as an EV simulation in comframe is planned for Q1/2027; importing recordings for analysis is available now.

Charge Cycle Automation

Sequence saved configurations into repeatable cycles, campaigns, regression runs and production workflows.

Conformance Test Libraries

Execute released test logic for a defined standard, edition, DUT role and validated or approved scope.

Integration & APIs

Ready-to-use workflows first. Open integration where required.

External systems should orchestrate an implemented charging or BMS test workflow, not rebuild the domain logic in customer code. Use the shallowest integration depth that solves the engineering process.

Native comframe workflow

Configure, execute, analyse and document directly in the software. Best for engineering work and controlled manual operation.

REST API orchestration

Use released interfaces to select approved configurations, trigger workflows, monitor defined states and retrieve attributable results. Python applications can act as REST clients.

Project-specific integration

Connect applicable HiL systems, test benches, CI/CD pipelines, external power or measurement equipment and quality systems with defined safety and ownership boundaries.

Versioned delivery

The product name defines the environment. The release and configuration define the delivered scope.

Protocol editions, DUT roles, product compatibility, languages, layouts, Test Libraries, advanced simulation, Playback, Gateway functions, API coverage and third-party integrations must be confirmed against the current software release, licence and project specification.

Existing recordings and planned extensions

Keep using your CANoe recordings

Available now: import CANoe measurement recordings into comframe for analysis. Charge Playback for replaying recorded EV behaviour is already available in CANoe.

Planned for Q1/2027: replay recorded EV behaviour as an EV simulation with Charge Playback in comframe. The remaining CCS TestLibs are targeted for the end of 2026, with Q1/2027 allowed if validation takes longer.

IEC 61851-23: the demonstrated comemso TestLib currently runs in CANoe. Its port to comframe is prepared; a comframe release is not yet available.

See the current IEC test setup →

Support for importing EV DBC files for EV-CAN data and for LIN data is planned during 2027. The released version defines which integrations you can use today.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is comframe?

comframe is the software and test-intelligence environment for applicable comemso EV charging, calibration and BMS systems. It connects configuration, synchronised measurement, analysis, simulation, automation, reporting and supported integration.

Why is the user interface described as highly flexible?

Supported views and panels can be arranged around the current task, synchronised on one time base, filtered and retained with the project. The exact layout functions depend on the released version.

Does comframe support different languages?

comframe provides a language-selectable user interface for international teams. The available languages are defined by the current released software version and product configuration.

Which products use comframe?

comframe is used with supported EVCA and Calimera configurations and provides an optional control path for the Battery Cell Simulator. Exact compatibility and function depth depend on the selected product, software release and licence.

Does comframe support REST API and Python integration?

A REST API is part of the published comframe baseline. Python applications can use released REST interfaces as clients. Exact endpoints, authentication, hardware control and result access remain release and project specific.

Are all functions available on every system?

No. Modules, protocol editions, capabilities, languages, APIs and hardware control are versioned and licensed. The current proposal and release documentation define the delivered scope.
