What changed in IEC 61851-23:2023 for DC charging station testing?
The 2023 edition revises electrical-safety requirements and adds or expands methods for demonstrating conformity. A test plan must identify the charging system, applicable annex and normative edition before comparing a station response with a limit.
Test area and evidence
| Test area | What to define or record |
|---|---|
| Edition | Record 2023 and the agreed annex. |
| Safety methods | Map applicable requirements to executable methods. |
| Evidence | Keep measured states, timing, limits and verdicts together. |
Coverage depends on the configured hardware, interfaces, firmware and released test libraries. State the agreed method and normative edition in the result. No blanket certification or universal fault coverage is implied.
Questions about this test scope
What must the test record identify?
Identify the DUT, counterpart, firmware, configured interfaces, method, library version and measured result.
Can one result prove every supported variant?
No. Define which configurations and conditions the executed cases cover, and document any untested boundary.
How do I choose the related test setup?
Start with the DUT role and required interfaces, then agree the communication, electrical and power scope with the application team.
